Hilltoppers' Pettit Wins Mr. Bee Intercollegiate
RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. – West Liberty University junior women's golf standout Kailey Pettit outdistanced the field here Sunday in winning the Mr. Bee Intercollegiate event at Green Hills Golf Club.
Pettit entered Sunday's final round one shot off the lead after posting a 9-over-par 81 on Saturday at the challenging 5,804-yard, par 72 layout but wasted little time moving to the front.
The returning All-MEC honoree posted another 81 on Sunday to finish at 18-over-par 162 for the two-day event, two shots better than runner-up Kiana Toole of West Virginia Wesleyan. First-day leader Jewel Goins of Ohio Valley tied for third place at 165 after shooting a 13-over-par 85 on Sunday.
Charleston won the team championship with a 36-hole total of 668. Ohio Valley was a distant second at 691.
