BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University’s Adam O’Donnell has been honored as the Mountain East Conference’s Male Track Athlete of the Week.
A graduate student from Martinsburg, W.Va., the All-Region decathlete broke his own school long jump record and just missed achieving an NCAA D2 provisional mark at Friday's Marietta (Ohio) Open.
O'Donnell became West Liberty’s first indoor 7-meter long jumper with a leap of 7.02 meters (23 feet, 0.5 inches), less than 4 inches shy of the NCAA D2 provisional standard of 7.12 meters (23 feet, 4.25 inches).
West Liberty’s indoor track season continues this weekend when they travel to Ohio for the Spire Midwest Open on Friday and Saturday.
