BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University senior standout Kelsi Hulit has been honored as the Mountain East Conference’s Female Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this spring.
A senior thrower from Malvern, Ohio, Hulit helped lead the Hilltopper women’s team to a runner-up finish in Saturday’s Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by the University of Charleston.
The returning NCAA Division II All-Region selection swept the shot and discus events at the meet and was runner-up in the hammer to account for 28 of the Black and Gold’s 146 points in the meet.
Not only was her school record discus throw of 156 feet, 10 inches (47.80m) an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark, it was the longest by a Mountain East Conference woman this spring by 30 feet and one of the 10 best in the nation.
Coming up this weekend for the WLU men's and women's teams is the Mountaineer Showcase meet, hosted by West Virginia University. It will be the Hilltoppers' final tune-up before next month's MEC Championships.
