Hilltoppers' Ubeda Earns MEC Soccer Award
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University men’s soccer veteran Mikel Ubeda was honored Monday as the Mountain East Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Ubeda, a senior defender from Bilbao, Spain, scored a goal and anchored a stifling effort from the WLU back line on Friday in the Hilltoppers' 3-0 win at Concord. It was West Liberty's first shutout win and largest margin of victory in the NCAA Division II era.
Coach Sean Regan’s Black and Gold will be back in action on Friday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan ina 7 p.m.match at the West Family Athletic Complex.
