Kemp Named MEC Track Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University distance ace Hannah Kemp was selected on Monday as the Mountain East Conference Track Athlete of the Week.
One short week after running away with the MEC Cross Country championship at Oglebay Resort, the stellar sophomore from Bethesda, Ohio made an impressive 2021 debut on the track. The former Union Local High School star shattered a 10-year-old school record in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:39.54 in the adidas/Winthrop Invitational on Saturday.
That’s the fastest 5K time in the MEC this spring by nearly three full minutes.
Kemp and her Hilltopper teammates will be back in action on Saturday when they host the inaugural West Liberty Invitational meet at the West Family Athletic Complex.
