WLU Men's Golf 2nd at Malone Spring Classic

   ALLIANCE, Ohio – The West Liberty University men's golf team finished second here Saturday as the Malone (Ohio) Spring Classic ended its two-day run at Tannenhauf Golf Course.

   The host Pioneers pulled away over the final 18 holes to take the team title with a 36-hole score of 595 over the par 72 layout. Coach Thadd Obecny's Hilltoppers (614) held off Lake Erie (620) for second place with West Virginia Wesleyan (650) checking in at No. 4.

   West Liberty's Howard Peterson IV tied for second place in the medal race with a two-day total of 6-over-par 150. Alex Easthom also had a top five finish, tying for fourth place in the medal standing just one shot back at 151.

   Malone's Connor Curry shot a tournament-best 4-under-par 68 on Saturday to take medal honors at 1-under-par 143.
