Yeaman Keys Hilltopper Win on Senior Day

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Josh Yeaman scored two goals and assisted on another here Friday to lead the West Liberty University men's soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 victory against Alderson Broaddus on Senior Day at the West Family Athletic Complex.

Yeaman was one of five Hilltopper seniors honored prior to the match – joining Tom Humphreys, Zak Campbell, Aaron Saymansky and Trevor Kessell – as WLU (3-4) held off a late surge by the visiting Battlers (2-4).

Humphreys broke the scoring ice in the 52nd minute, finishing off a beautiful cross from Yeaman with a scorcher into the corner of the cage for a 1-0 West Liberty lead.

Yeaman added an unassisted goal in the 68th minute and nodded in a well-struck corner by Vitor Otsuka in the 71st minute to make it 3-0 Hilltoppers. Alderson Broaddus scored twice in the final 10 minutes but it was too little, too late.

Noah Underwood had 3 saves in goal to get the win for the Black and Gold. Diego Gomez was charted with 4 saves for the Battlers.

The Hilltoppers close out the regular season on the road next week with a 7 p.m. match at Frostburg State on April 16.
