MEC names Fleming Women's Track Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (April 12) - Wheeling University senior thrower Liz Fleming (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has been named the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.
Fleming posted a pair of provisional marks and won two events at the West Virginia Wesleyan Jasmine Claggett Memorial Classic over the weekend. She won the hammer with a throw of 55.73 meters -- good for a new school record and the eighth-best throw in the country in that event this year. She then won the shot put with a throw of 14.67 meters, which currently stands seventh-best in the country.
She was also runner-up at the meet in the discus with a mark of 40.21 meters.
