Men's Golf finishes eighth at MEC Championships

WARREN, Ohio (April 22) - The Wheeling University men's golf team finished in eighth place overall at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championships held Tuesday and Thursday at the Avalon Lakes Golf Course.

Newcomer Austin Panhorst and freshman Dylan Feldkamp paced the Cardinals on the links. Panhorst carded scores of 79 and 89 (168) to tie for 25th overall, while Feldkamp posted rounds of 81 and 87 to also tie for 25th on the leaderboard.

Freshman Yadhu Urs finished third on the team with rounds of 88 and 85 (173) at the event.

Davis & Elkins won the team championship, while West Liberty's Alex Easthom defeated D&E's Evan Lewis in a playoff to claim medalist honors with a two-round score of 148.

The tournament was originally slated to be a three-round, 54-hole event, but the second day of the championship was canceled due to snow and cold temperatures.
