Fleming qualifies for Outdoor National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS (May 19) - After improving her own school record in the shot put this past weekend, senior Liz Fleming (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has been announced as one of the qualifiers for the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Allandale, Michigan.

The 2021 outdoor championships will be hosted by Grand Valley State University from May 27-29 at the GVSU Track & Field Stadium.

Fleming set a new PR on her final heave of the weekend at the Mount Olive Last Chance Meet in North Carolina. After marking in a 13.97 meters on her fifth throw, the Washington native came through with a mark of 14.91 meters to improve her own school record in the event.

That toss has her ranked 15th in Division II this season and good enough to qualify for the national championships in the event.

To comply with NCAA COVID-19 social distancing protocols that limit the venue to 25 percent capacity, the Grand Valley State Athletics Department has rented two additional sets of bleachers to further allow for a maximum of 250 spectators per session.

A limited number of tickets are available in Session 1 on May 27 and Session 2 on May 28. To purchase tickets within these two sessions, visit ncaa.com.
