The Top 10 teams in the MEC men’s basketball standings qualify for the conference tournament, and the top six seeds receive a bye. A pair of men’s matchups will be played Wednesday, followed by four quarterfinal matchups on Friday.

West Liberty is the top overall seed as the 2025 regular season champion. The Hilltoppers, who are ranked No. 6 nationally, are 25-3 overall, 18-2 in the MEC, and enter tournament play next week riding a 13-game winning streak. WLU is one of three Division II men’s programs averaging at least 100 points per game this season, including 116.0 points per game in its last seven contests.

Fairmont State will be the No. 2 seed after finishing 17-3 in MEC play. The Falcons, who are ranked No. 13 nationally, are riding a four-game winning streak after holding off Frostburg State on the final day of play. The Falcons could get a rematch with Frostburg State in the quarterfinals if the Bobcats can eliminate MEC newcomer Point Park when the two teams open men’s tournament play Wednesday evening.

The University of Charleston, under the direction of first-year head coach James Long, are the No. 3 seed. UC enters the MEC tournament on a seven-game winning streak after knocking off intra-city rival West Virginia State on Saturday.
