(Des Moines, IA) -- The 2025 RAGBRAI route will cross the Iowa-Minnesota state line for the first time ever.

Organizers have released the 52nd RAGBRAI route and map, with a 15-mile stretch crossing the border into Minnesota on Day 2. That's in Jackson County, Minnesota just north of Spirit Lake, Iowa.

The annual statewide bike ride starts July 19th in Orange City and ends in Guttenberg on July 26th.

The 2025 RAGBRAI route:

  • Day 0 is the Expo in Orange City, in Northwest Iowa.
  • Day 1 the route travels 70.1 Miles to Milford.
  • Day 2 is a 44.6 mile ride to Estherville, including the 15 miles across the Iowa border in Minnesota.
  • Day 3 riders will cover 71.4 Miles to Forest City
  • Day 4 is 68.3 miles with an overnight in Iowa Falls
  • Day 5 takes the riders to Cedar Falls, covering 49.5 miles.
  • Day 6 the route travels 38.2 Miles to Oelwein
  • Day 7 the final stretch covers 61.2 Miles ending the RAGBRAI route in Guttenberg

RAGBRAI riders traditionally start the route each year dipping their bicycle tire in the Missouri River, and end the route dipping the bike tire in the Mississippi River.

This year at the start of the ride, bicyclists will have two options. They can do a ceremonial tire dip in the canal in Orange City, which will be filled with Missouri River water. Or, riders can make their own trip to Oak Grove on the Iowa-Missouri border and dip their tire in the Missouri River, then bike to Orange City to begin the route.

Bicyclists will end the route with a tire dip in the Mississippi River at Guttenberg, the final stop on the 2025 RAGBRAI route.
