LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Firefighters Saturday were attacking a brushfire from the ground and air along Highway 39 near Crystal Lake in the San Gabriel Mountains outside Los Angeles.
The Angeles National Forest reported the fire just before 4 a.m. Saturday at 2-3 acres with a moderate rate of spread.
At about 5:30 a.m., fire officials reported that firefighters were making excellent progress clearing lines of vegetation around the fire and putting out hot spots within those lines.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department sent a high-flying aircraft to help put out the flames.
No roads were closed and there were no threats to the campgrounds or communities in the area.
