The National Hurricane Center has increased the chances of a tropical development in the Gulf.

The system is currently labeled ' Invest 98L', and according to the NHC, the area of low pressure located over the Bay of Campeche now has a 50% chance of development over the next 48 hours, along with a 40% chance over the next seven days.

What does that mean here in Houston? A possible increase in rain chances on Friday, and Saturday morning.

The the low is expected to move west-northwest across the Gulf over the next day or so, and it could become a tropical depression before moving inland over northeastern Mexico or South Texas by late Friday.
