Mike Tomlin's doing a great job

The Steelers are a .500 team, and yet Mike Tomlin should be in the coach of the year discussion.

The Steelers offense is abysmal. It's one of the worst offenses that I can remember the Steelers having.

Who's fault is that? Well, I don't really think it's anybodies.

Ben Roethlisbger is on the shelf. Despite the Steelers having a "first round grade," on Mason Rudolph, he wasn't going to play as well as Ben this year. Not even close.

James Conner has been in and out of the lineup and has largely been dealing with injuries all year. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson just got hurt on Thursday, which didn't help things for an already struggling offense.

In fact, when I look at what the Steelers have trotted out there on that side of the ball, I think it's a miracle that they're 5-5. That's a credit to Mike Tomlin.

He's found a way to keep his team close in every game this season save week one against the Patriots. The defense has been outstanding.

Some people tweeted me last week and said Tomlin deserves criticism for being "out coached by Freddie Kitchens." Yeah, if you think that's what happened, you're a moron.

The Steelers offense had too many injuries to overcome. Joe Montana wasn't going to have that team scoring more than seven points.

The fact that they hung around until the 6:30 mark of the 4th quarter is a credit to Tomlin. The fact that they're even in the discussion for a possible playoff spot is a credit to Tomlin.
