The Oklahoma State Cowboys fired their head football coach, Mike Gundy after only three games despite his 20+ years at the helm of their squad. He had become synonymous with Cowboys football and Doug is mystified by their decision to let him go, especially considering that changing an entire coaching staff mid-season is an obvious recipe for disaster. They are actually further away from fielding a winning team than they were yesterday.
Doug Gottlieb: “Three games into a 21-year career when you’ve done nothing but win up until the last calendar year? You fire a guy who just hired a new staff (and) has 63 new players. All that is is you have people who think that the answer is always: fire everybody, start over, do it as quickly as possible…Nothing you have done today makes you closer to being a winner.”
