"This is going to be a very exciting career, but a very short career for Deshaun Watson."
-- Ben Maller
Deshaun Watson is reportedly "ahead of schedule" in returning from knee surgery that caused him to miss a large chunk of his rookie season. When questioned whether or not they would ask Watson to change his style of play, the Texans made it clear that they will not try and prevent Watson from being a running QB.
Ben Maller agrees with this decision by the Texans but points out that it does have consequences. While you want to get all you can out of your star player, Watson has proven that he is not durable. He has had two major knee injuries already, and it is inevitable that he will get hurt again. Therefore, the Texans should consider looking for his heir sooner rather than later.
