WLU Golf Earns 7th Straight NCAA Regional Bid

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After checking in at No. 2 in the final set of NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings earlier in the day, the West Liberty University men’s golf team learned Friday night that it had earned its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament bid.

   First-year head coach Thadd Obecny and his Hilltopper squad will be heading to Lake View Country Club in North East, Pa. next month to compete with 15 other teams in the combined East/Atlantic Super Regional Championships.

   Hosted by Mercyhurst (Pa.) University, the 54-hole event is set for May 6-8 at the challenging Keystone State course, a rolling 6,883-yard layout that plays to a par of 72.

   The Atlantic/East regional is one of four combined regional tournaments that will be conducted on those dates to determine the field for the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament.

   The top four teams from each super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional will advance to the finals May 17-21 at PGA National Resort; The Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The finals will be hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
