Hilltoppers Conclude Season at NCAA Regional

NORTH EAST, Pa. – The West Liberty University men's golf team wrapped up another impressive season here Saturday as the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Tournament finished its three-day run at Lake View Country Club.

Coach Thadd Obecny’s Hilltoppers settled for a 15th-place finish in the team standings on Saturday but it did little to dim a strong season showing for the Black and Gold, who took runner-up honors at the Mountain East Conference championships and earned their seventh straight NCAA Tournament bid as the No. 2-ranked team in the Atlantic Region.

Junior Alex Easthom – the reigning MEC Player of the Year and MEC Tournament medal champion – was low man for West Liberty in the regional with a Top 20 finish. Easthom carded a 14-over-par 230 for the tournament to share 15th place with three other golfers, just seven shots off the lead.

Gannon held off St. Thomas Aquinas for the regional team championship.
