Grimm Earns MEC Pitcher of the Week Award
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University’s Logan Grimm was honored on Monday as the final Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week for the 2021 season.
The 6-0, 185-pound righthander from Moundsville, W.Va. hurled a one-hitter on Saturday night to hand regionally-ranked Wheeling a 4-1 loss and clinch a second-place finish in the MEC North Division for Coach Eric Burkle’s Hilltoppers.
Wheeling's first batter of the game beat out an infield single and that turned out to be the only hit of the game for the host MEC North Division champs. Grimm struck out 9 Cardinal batters and gave up only three walks in finishing off his complete-game gem and improving to 6-2 on the season.
The West Liberty baseball team will open MEC Tournament play in Beckley, W.Va. on Thursday night when the Hilltoppers take on Charleston, the No. 2 seed from the South Division, in a first-round game. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
