WLU’s Campbell Named to Academic All-District Team

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Recent West Liberty University graduate Adam Campbell has been honored as a first-team selection on the 2021 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Baseball Team.

Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the 2021 Academic All-District® Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined achievements on the field and in the classroom.

The Wheeling, W.Va. native earned his Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from West Liberty in May after maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA throughout his graduate courses. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Built Difference Performance, LLC in Wheeling.

Campbell was a four-year starter and two-year team captain for Coach Eric Burkle’s Hilltopper baseball team. He started all 41 games this spring, ranking among the team leaders in numerous offensive categories as the Hilltoppers finished strong to claim runner-up honors in the Mountain East Conference North Division.

The hard-hitting first baseman hit .288 with a .411 on-base average and .520 slugging percentage. Campbell scored 28 runs and drove in 26 more while pounding out nine doubles, a triple and six home runs. He also flashed some speed on the bases with a dozen steals in 15 attempts.

The 2021 Academic All-District® Baseball Team includes student-athletes from the Mountain East Conference (MEC), Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

As a first-team Academic All-District® selection, Campbell is now a candidate for the 2021 NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Baseball Team. Academic All-America® balloting gets under way later this month.
