Hulit Named All-Academic Athlete

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced recognition of the West Liberty University women's track and field program, as well as individual honors for senior Kelsi Hulit. The team has been named a 2022 NCAA Division II Track & Field All-Academic Team, while Hulit takes home All-Academic Athlete honors.

Hulit adds this to her long list of accomplishments on the hilltop, including being named Academic All-District, MEC All-Academic, as well as being an All-American thrower and holding school records in shot put and discus. This is the second consecutive year that she has earned All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA. The Malvern, Ohio native graduated with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology this past spring after a strong academic and athletic career at West Liberty.

Coach Justin Simpson's team posted a 3.488 cumulative grade point average to collect their third straight All-Academic Team selection.

To be recognized as All-Academic by the USTFCCCA student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition, complete at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester of competition, and have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season. Meanwhile, teams that maintain a cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field of a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale earn All-Academic status.

More than 400 student-athletes and 100 teams at the NCAA Division II level were also recognized. The USTFCCCA has been highlighting academic excellence by student-athletes in the sport since 1995.
