Vandusen leads men's team on day one of MEC Track & Field Championships

GLENVILLE, W.Va. (May 2) - Senior Brian Vandusen (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) won the long jump and placed third in the high jump to lead the performances by the Wheeling University men's track & field team on day one of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championships Sunday.

Vandusen established a mark of 7.47 meters to win the long jump, while sophomore Cameron Ferguson (Greer, S.C./Greer) took second overall at 7.02 meters.

Vandusen also took third place in the high jump after clearing 1.95 meters. He was followed in forth by freshman Andrew Taylor (Richardson, Texas/JJ Pierce) at 1.90 meters.

Sophomore Eli Young (Worthington, Ohio/Kilbourne) established a new personal-record in the pole vault after he cleared 4.50 meters to take third overall.

The Cardinals will return to the Sue Morris Track tomorrow, Monday, May 3 for day two. Events in the multis will begin in the morning, while a live stream of the championships will begin around 3:30 p.m.
