Cardinals slide one spot to No. 10 in NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (May 10) - The Wheeling University baseball team fell one spot to No. 10 in the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Region Poll unveiled Monday.
The Cardinals (26-12, 21-9 MEC) lost both of their games week that were used for the poll. Wheeling dropped a 4-1 game to West Liberty, before falling 7-3 in extra innings late Saturday.
Seton Hill remained at the top of the poll with all 12 first-place votes, followed by Charleston and Millersville in the top-three.
The Atlantic Region is made up of teams in the MEC, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and two independent teams (Virginia State and Bluefield State).
The NCBWA poll is a media poll and not used in determining the teams who will compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament.
The Cardinals clinched the MEC North Division Championship and will play Concord in an opening round game at the MEC Tournament on Thursday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. in Beckley, West Virginia. Visit the MEC Tournament Central page for complete details and links.
