Women's team collects six USTFCCCA All-Region honors

NEW ORLEANS (May 24) - Five individuals and a relay team on the Wheeling University women's track & field team earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Atlantic Region following the conclusion of the regular season.

Senior Liz Fleming (Washington, Pa./Trinity) earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in both the hammer and the shot put. Fleming will compete in the shot put this Saturday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in Michigan.

Senior Danielle Stewart (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) and freshman Keala McCurry (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) each earned all-region status in the pole vault.

Freshmen Isha Sesay (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and Princess Love (Houston, Texas/C.E. King) each earned individual USTFCCCA All-Region honors. Sesay claimed all-region in the 100-meter hurdles, while Love earned her status in the shot put.

The 4x100-meter relay team of senior Emmarie Foote (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg), junior Suzan Trammel (Dayton, Ohio/Dunbar), and freshmen Ka'niya McGowan (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) and Jaci Rife (Springfield, Ohio/Tucumseh) were also recognized with USTFCCCA All-Region honors.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay teams.
