Hilltoppers' Robinson is MEC Player of Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University All-Region guard Pat Robinson III has been honored as the Mountain East Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The 6-3 junior from Chesterfield, N.J. had an incredibly efficient week in leading Coach Ben Howlett’s nationally-ranked Hilltoppers to a pair of blowout wins. Robinson scored 55 points in just 47 minutes of playing time while shooting 70 percent (21-30) from the floor as WLU re-took the NCAA D2 scoring lead with back-to-back 100-point games.

The silky smooth southpaw tossed in a game-high 26 points and dished out 7 assists in West Liberty’s 107-70 romp at Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday. He followed that up with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals on Saturday as the Hilltoppers routed Ohio County rival Wheeling, 109-85.

For the week, Robinson shot 70 percent (21-of-30) from the floor, drained 6-of-11 (55 percent) 3-point tries and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. One of only three MEC players – including teammate Bryce Butler – named to the Top 100 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Small-College Player of the Year Award,

Robinson ranks among the Top 50 nationally in Points, Points/Game, Field Goals, Free Throws Made, Free Throws Attempted, Steals, Steals/Game and Assist/Turnover Ratio.

Now 16-2 on the season, the West Liberty men return to action on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. game at Davis & Elkins.
