BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University point guard Audrey Tingle has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
A 5-6 graduate student from West Lafayette, Ohio, Tingle led the surging WLU women to two more impressive wins last week as they took sole possession of third place in the Mountain East Conference standings and moved into the Top 10 among the national scoring leaders with an average of nearly 82 points a night.
Tingle became the first NCAA D2 woman in two years to post multiple triple-doubles in the same season on Wednesday when she charted 11 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 91-38 win at Alderson Broaddus.
The fifth-year starter nearly made it back-to-back triple-doubles on Saturday when she had 14 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds – with zero turnovers – in a 110-73 blowout of Ohio County rival Wheeling. The stellar playmaker now leads the nation with 121 assists and also ranks No. 1 nationally with 13 double-doubles. Despite standing just 5-6, she ranks No. 7 nationally among NCAA D2 women with 190 rebounds.
Tingle and her West Liberty teammates will shoot for their fifth straight win on Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff at Davis & Elkins.
