After being closed for several days due to heavy snowfall, the Walmart in Central Square, Oswego County, is now open to shoppers. The store on East Avenue closed on Monday (February 17) because of the significant snow accumulation on its roof. Despite concerns, the roof did not collapse, but the excess snow needed to be removed to ensure safety for both customers and staff.

According to Syracuse.com, the store reopened on Thursday (February 20) at 2 p.m. after crews worked to clear the snow. Charles Crowson, a spokesperson for Walmart, confirmed that the roof remained intact, although some sheet rock had started to crack, prompting the precautionary closure.

The National Weather Service reported that the area near Central Square received over 90 inches of snow between last Friday and Wednesday (February 14-19). Despite the closure, Walmart ensured that customers in need of prescription medications could pick them up at nearby locations, as reported by LocalSYR.

The reopening comes as a relief to residents who rely on the store for essential goods and services. Customers can now resume shopping at the Central Square Walmart, which is expected to operate under normal hours unless further weather disruptions occur.
