The long time trio that we all know as ZZ Top was Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard on drums...that changed when Dusty Hill died in 2021, and the band had longtime tech Ellwood Francis take his place...now, over the weekend, the band released a statement that Frank Beard was leaving the current tour temporarily because of an unspecified health issue, and that Beard is "looking forward to a speedy recovery." In his absence, they're turning to another band tech, John Douglas, to fill in on drums, as he did back in 2002 when Beard had an emergency appendectomy. ZZ's North American tour continues thru April 12th, then they head to Australia and New Zealand...here's more, including the remaining North American dates: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/zz-top-drummer-frank-beard-leaves-tour/
