A garbage strike on the East Coast is piling up trash in the South Bay.
The Trash collectors work for Republic Services. They're striking for better pay on the East Coast, but trash collectors in the South Bay are taking a stand in solidarity.
However, neighbors in Chula Vista say they are frustrated as their cans are overflowing on the streets. Trash is not being picked up in Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, San Ysidro and Otay Mesa.
Republic Services is bringing in crews from Imperial County and Arizona to assist in the meantime. The Chula Vista City Council will hold a special meeting Monday night to address the ongoing problem.
The solidarity strikes are rolling out across the country.
